Mission Statement:
The Skyline High School community will engage our students by embracing an education that values critical thinking, academic rigor, cultural responsiveness, and healthy relationships. We strive to create equitable and meaningful learning experiences in which students thrive in college, career, and community with confidence, courage, and joy.
School History:
Skyline High School is a comprehensive four-year school enrolling students in grades 9 through 12. The school opened in the fall of 1961 and graduated its first senior class in the spring of 1965. Skyline is accredited by the Western Association of Secondary Schools Commission and holds membership in the College Board and the National Association for College Admission Counseling. Skyline provides all students with a supportive environment and rigorous curriculum through which they develop their academic skills, creative talents, and civic values. Skyline High School is located on a beautiful 47-acre campus at the crest of the Oakland hills.
Career Pathways:
Pathways consist of a cohorted group of students who experience a sequence of industry themed curricula that integrates career and technical education courses, core academic courses, work-based learning opportunities and student support services. Skyline Pathways are supported by a team of teachers across subject areas and grade levels that collaborate regularly to facilitate student learning. Each pathway offers its own designated introductory, concentration, and capstone classes. In the 11th grade, pathways offer summer internships in the area of their study through local community partnerships. By blending theoretical knowledge with real-world application, Pathways result in relevant and rigorous personalized educational experiences that inspire students and prepare them for college, career, and community.
Skyline’s 3 pathways are:
- Arts, Entertainment & Design
- Green Energy
- Education & Community Health
