Green Energy Pathway

What We’re All About

Students in this pathway prepare to take part in a global shift on improving our environment. In exploring how modern humans receive and consume energy, our students face urgent concerns related to global warming and explore solutions that are based in science. Most importantly, students gain the confidence needed to make their bold solutions a reality as they practice and hone their research, communication, investigation, experimentation, and presentation skills.

Career Tech Ed (CTE) Course Sequence

9th grade: Biological Connections to Energy & Environment

10th grade: Sustainability

11th grade: Physics of Energy Science

12th grade: Sustainable Systems

Careers College & Community

Students in this pathway explore careers in the energy sciences such as: solar and wind design and installation, green chemistry, green architecture, interior building design, green construction, electrical systems, waste management, research science, environmental science, public transportation and more. Two key partnerships are Laney College’s Green Technology program and Merritt College’s Urban Agroecology program. We encourage our students to participate in these college programs while still in high school and to take advantage of mentorship offerings that will support them in future goals in any environment-related field.
