Student Dress Code
Student Dress Code Policy
In order to provide a safe and respectful learning environment, all students must dress in a manner that shows respect for both themselves and others. Neither Oakland Unified School District nor Skyline High School are responsible for students' personal property and belongings, and therefore students are advised NOT to bring expensive jewelry, clothing or other expensive personal items to school.
The OUSD Dress Code Policy prohibits the following for students:
- Wearing clothing which exposes undergarments, parts of the body such as upper breasts, breast cleavage, exposed backs or upper thighs.
- Wearing hats, visors, do-rags, and sunglasses when inside school buildings and classrooms (except for those who must wear head coverings for medical or religious reasons).
- Wearing clothing, jewelry, or accessories which promote drug or alcohol use, violence, profanity, bigotry, hatred or intolerance against people based on their race, ethnicity, religion, gender, or sexual orientation.
Skyline High School students that are inappropriately dressed for school (or school activities) will be denied entry to campus and/or class, and will be sent home to change.
